The Clean Initiative (TCI) is a citizen response to the condition of Dimapur City's rampantly improper disposal of waste. The initiative is an authentic voluntary effort that aims to raise awareness among fellow citizens in order to promote a collective ownership of the condition of our city.
Dimapur lies in dire need of an urgent and effective solution to the sea of trash that is fast becoming the landscape staple. For far too long the need for sanitation has been sparsely met, and the roadside piles of stinking garbage, plastic-ridden streams, and open air plastic burning has come to a tipping point where we can no longer turn a blind eye to this festering sore.
We believe each citizen should be made aware of the current fate of our municipal waste and the corresponding standard services we are due according to the laws and policies of this country. We would like to inform ourselves as well as the public as to which government department are obligated to these responsibilities and answerable for such basic services that are due to the city regarding the proper management of municipal waste and sanitation.
We believe it is essential to foster an attitude of stewardship and promote more sustainable lifestyles in order to have the city we want now as well as in the future.
While waste management is no menial task and not for the faint of heart, it is a problem with attainable solutions if only there is a will. The Clean Initiative is a call to action for the sake of the city and for the benefit for each of its denizens.
