Dimapur recently played host to an Art Picnic that was organized by the talented
Temsu Yanger, who is an accomplished artist based in London. The event was held on the 8th of August at Green Park in 4th mile and witnessed quite an attendance of aspiring, as well as established artists from Nagaland and Assam. As expressed by Temsu Yanger himself, the event was an attempt at providing a platform wherein artists could come and interact, share, learn and network with each other.
The need to express by creating visual art is one of the defining characteristics of the human species. The Naga culture, like many cultures around the world, is filled with aesthetic values that have been duly expressed by different mediums of visual art. But an artist must constantly question and struggle with his environment to create an evolved aesthetic. Temsu Yanger has been successfully producing unique pieces of art for close to two decades and has had his work exhibited in some of the most prestigious galleries around Europe.

He confesses that stagnancies in the comfort zone have always inhibited his inspirations, which in turn have been challenged by his need to travel and explore. And this is the same message that he communicated to those who answered to the summons of the Art Picnic in Dimapur.
The Art picnic will be traveling to Kohima on the 22nd of August and will be held at the Botanical Gardens.
