It's funny about blues music in India. In a strange sort of way, it's actually a bit like the cocaine in Mumbai. The good shit is really hard to find.
So, in these times of electronically inclined music and the like, it’s really awesome to hear a good ole blues song. A damn good one at that.
Blue Temptation's "Ramblin' On" starts with a neatly executed swell, which settles into a superbly composed opening guitar riff. The Wah tone sits beside the bass (which is badass by the way) just right and the lone bass kick sets up the track perfectly.
And then it begins...
The vocals are delivered with maturity and the tonal quality is stellar. I didn't even notice that there were no backing vocals!! The slide guitar work is really neat as well. I really like the ‘less is more’ approach that this band has adopted. Bass lines are played with the minimum of fuss, the drums are just right...And both guitars compliment each other.
Blue Temptation is the real deal, folks. Oh, and did I mention that the singer is also the drummer? How f*****g cool is that! This is honest music. There is still hope for all of us yet.
